The Professional Music Teachers of New Mexico (PMTNM) formed in 1950 as the New Mexico Music Teacher Association. The name of the organization was changed to the Professional Music Teachers of New Mexico, Inc. in 1998. PMTNM is affiliated with Music Teachers National Association (MTNA).
